Bloody Nails

This is the final installment of my month of Halloween manis. October seriously flew by!
For my last mani I wanted to do something different. I love gory Halloween decorations and thought bloody nails would be a good idea!

I used OPI Alpine Snow as my white base. I also used China Glaze Salsa on my ring finger. I then stamped the dripping blood using Konad plate m13 with Konad red special polish. I also added some glow in the dark topcoat for a fun effect!
I hope everyone has an awesome Halloween! Don't eat too much candy ;-)

Eyeball Nails

Eye see you! Ok, enough of the cheesiness. This was a really simple, yet creepy manicure for Halloween.

I used China Glaze Oxygen as my base. Once it was dry I used OPI Obscurity to do the black pupil. Next I used LA Colors nail art polish in either blue or green to do the colored iris part. Finally, I used the same nail art polish in red to do the veins.
Happy Halloween!!

Purple and Green Halloween Mani

Yay, Halloween is only a few days away!!! I was feeling a little tired of the typical orange and black combo, so I decided to do another ghoulish combo - green and purple. I have also been thinking what I could use this bright lime green polish for, so this was perfect!

I wish I had a super easy and simple technique for this, but I don't. The easiest way for me was to freehand it. I tried using nail guides, but it just didn't look right. I started by swiping the green polish diagonally at the bottom of the nail. I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Green With Envy. Then I swiped the purple across the top in the same way as I did the green, making sure to cover any bare nail. I used OPI Nevermore as my purple. In order to make the lines look smoother I used a nail art brush with black polish across where the green and purple meet. I finished with a cute spider decal for a little extra oomph.

Ghost Nails

In the spirit of Halloween, I wanted to do some spooky nails. I decided on something cute, easy, and simple - ghost nails!

I used OPI Alpine Snow as my base. Then for some extra fun I added some glow in the dark polish by Fantasy Makers on top. I wish I could have gotten a picture of the nails glowing, but my camera wouldn't pick them up :(
For the ghost face I used OPI Obscurity from the Go Goth Collection. Since the bottle and brush were mini, they were the perfect size to make little eyes and mouths.

Candy Corn Nails

I had to do the quintessential Halloween manicure - candy corn nails! This seems to be a favorite among the nail art community and I can see why. It's just SO cute.

I started with Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Mellow Yellow all over the nail. I then did the orange stripe using OPI Flit A Bit. Finally, I did the white tip using OPI Alpine Snow. I found it much easier to freehand the stripes than to try and use nail guides. Candy corn isn't perfect anyways! I really loved this manicure. People went gaga over it and I wanted to eat it :)

Halloween French Mani

I really wanted to do a Halloween themed french manicure. I decided to do an orange base with black tips and added a little nail art. I ended up doing two. I hated the first one and loved the second. Let's start with the bad!

I used Orly Old School Orange as my base. I then stamped the pumpkin from Konad plate m13 using Konad special black polish. I applied a layer of Konad top coat, but still got some streaks :( I then painted my tips with Obscurity by OPI. I thought the matte black would make a nice contrast against the glossy orange. However, the black went on thick and looked really chunky on my nail. *Sigh* It could have been so cute if perhaps I chose better behaved polishes!

Now for the good. I wore this all weekend and got SO many compliments. I used China Glaze Orange Marmalade as the base. I then painted the tips with OPI Unripened. I finished with a skull and cross bones decal. I love the shimmer in both of these polishes and thought they complimented each other nicely. These polishes went on smooth like buttah, so I was happy :) Super cute and easy!

Halloween Skulls

In keeping up with my Halloween only nails for the month, I decided to do another cute Konad!

The base is Unripened from the OPI Go Goth collection. I then stamped the cute skull design using Konad plate m13 and Konad special white polish. Super easy!

Philosophy Box of Truffles

This is a look I did using an eyeshadow palette from my favorite skin care line, Philosophy. The palette is called Box of Truffles and is a 4 piece set of browns.

1. Highlight - Latte a cream colored shadow.
2. Lid - Cocoa a shimmery warm brown.
3. Crease/Outer Corner/Lower lashes - Chocolate a deep brown.
4. Eyeliner - Pure Show by MAC from the Fabulous Felines collection. A gorgeous pure gold liquid liner.
5. Mascara - Bad Gal by Benefit

I really was pleased with this palette. I thought it wouldn't be too great since it's from a primarily skin care focused line. However, it turned out really pretty.
The gold liner from MAC is fabulous! Went on smooth and was just a great flash of gold!

China Glaze Mummy May I

Another polish from the China Glaze Awakening collection, Mummy May I. A dark purple jelly base with lots of hot pink glitter. Very pretty! From a distance it really looks more like a black base with fuschia glitter. The application was OK. The polish seemed to be thick and sticky. At times it was hard to get even strokes.

Sunlight

That night my boyfriend and I decided to go to a haunted house. I thought the spooky house decals would be perfect!

Close up of the decal!

Fright Night Claw Polish

I recently went to Wal-Mart and found these cute Halloween nail polishes. They are called Claw Polish and come in the cutest coffin bottles. For $3 each, how could I resist? I purchased the plain black and the orange/black glitter.

This is the black polish layered with the glitter on top. The glitter is really pretty. It's long pieces of black and orange glitter. I also catch glimpses of tiny purple pieces in there. The glitter was very thick and sticky! It made my polish bubble so bad!! As they say, you get what you pay for!

MAC She Who Dares

She Who Dares is in the Maleficent collection from MAC's recent Venomous Villains line. It's the sister of My Bad Magic and another mineralize eyeshadow. It's a blackened green/blue with tiny matching glitter. This is my favorite of the two eyeshadows! I absolutely love it. I literally could not resist when I saw it.

I did a double wing with my eyeliner, but failed to get a good picture of it. I must have been in a rush! But both my upper and lower liner extends out creating a double wing look.

Products used:
1) Base - Too Faced Shadow Insurance with NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Stick in Milk
2) Center of eyelid - Bright green from It Girl palette by KleanColors
3) Inner corner, outer corner, and crease - She Who Dares by MAC
4) Eyeliner - Pure Black liquid liner by Estee Lauder (upper). Bad Gal liner by Benefit (lower)
5) Mascara - Bad Gal Last by Benefit

Look What I Got!

When I started seeing swatches of the OPI Burlesque Collection I knew I had to have them. I ordered my 6 favorites from the collection. The others I feel I can wait on. I'm not sure when these officially release, but I found them online for a reasonable price. I received them today and had to share! Here they are:

From left to right: Ali's Big Break, The Show Must Go On, Bring On The Bling, Simmer & Shimmer, Show It And Glow It, and Sparkle-icious.

Aren't they gorgeous?! I can't wait to wear them!

Dying Roses

For my latest Halloween nail look I wanted to do a Konad with one of the OPI Go Goth polishes.

I used OPI Sanguine which is the dark reddish brown. I thought the morbid roses on Konad plate m13 would look good with the red. I stamped them on using Essie Loophole. Fun and easy!

OPI Pink of Hearts 2010

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, OPI released their Pink of Hearts 2010. It's a frosty baby pink with silver micro glitter. I actually really like it! It's very girly and reminds of something a princess would wear :)

Sunlight

Shade

The application was smooth and easy. It's very sheer so I used 3 coats and probably could of used a 4th. It did show some brush strokes, but luckily the tiny glitter helps distract from it. Overall it's a lovely polish!

What's your favorite pink polish for breast cancer awareness?

MAC My Bad Magic

My Bad Magic by MAC is from the highly anticipated Venomous Villains collection. It's a mineralize eyeshadow from the Villain Maleficent. This is a really gorgeous eyeshadow. It's a blackened purple/magenta with tiny purple glitter. Make sure to use a creamy base before applying this shadow or it won't stick. Check out this previous post about what I always use to prep my eyes.

I used My Bad Magic in the crease and outer corner. For the middle and inner corner of my eye I used the purple from my Drama Girl palette by KleanColor mentioned in my last post. I then lined the top lashes with Pure Color black liquid liner by Estee Lauder. I lined the bottom lashes with Bad Gal liner and as always I finished with Bad Gal mascara by Benefit.

Since this collection is so wildly popular I missed out on the Bad Fairy nail polish. I even went to 2 stores the day of the release and it was all sold out! So to fill the void I bought this and She Who Dares (another mineralize eyeshadow to be posted soon).
So now I gotta ask, what did you get from the Venomous Villains collection???

KleanColor Eyeshadow Palettes

I love visiting locally owned beauty supply shops because you never know what kind of treasures you may find. I recently had this experience! I found these really pretty eyeshadow palettes by a brand called KleanColor. They were only $2.99 a piece so I figured what do I have to lose?

These are the 2 palettes I bought. It Girl and Drama girl. Cute packaging!

These are the shadows. Really pretty colors. The variety of the colors is what really drew me in.

This is an orange and blue look I did with the It Girl palette. As you can see the shadows are somewhat shimmery/pearly which I really like! They applied easily and lasted all night. I was really pleased with how well these worked out. This was a great find!

Have you had any great finds lately??

China Glaze Ick-A-Bod-Y

I just picked this polish up yesterday and I love it. It's the perfect Halloween nail polish.
Ick-A-Bod-Y is a moss green jelly base with tons of orange glitter. However, after 2-3 coats the base looks black. The application was a little glomy and the finish was rough. After some topcoat it smoothed out nicely!

Sunlight

Shade

I wanted to make this even more Halloweeny, so I added some cute decals!

Up close of the decals. Bat and ghost!

If you're looking the perfect Halloween polish I definitely recommend Ick-A-Bod-Y!

OPI Go Goth Swatches

As I mentioned in my last post, I love Halloween! Since this is the start of October, I thought it'd be appropriate for some Halloween polish swatches.

The OPI Go Goth collection is a 4 piece set of mini polishes. The box says "dramatically alternative shades for Halloween" and I definitely agree!

Unripened - A black base with blue teal glitter. Really pretty!

Nevermore - A blackened purple glitter. Very nice, but similar to some other polishes we've seen lately.

Sanguine - A dark reddish brown. Very vampy.

Obscurity - A simple black matte.

I really love these colors for Halloween! I have some great ideas for nail art with these, so stay tuned :)

Happy October!

Today is the start of my favorite month, October! I love it so much because it is the month of my birthday, Fall, and Halloween (my favorite holiday). In order to celebrate my love for Halloween I am going to do my nails in some sort of Halloween style the whole month! Therefore, most of my nail posts will be Halloween themed, but don't worry I'll have some regular stuff thrown in there too.

Here's a simple nail look to kick it off...

Orange with black glitter! The orange polish is from a brand called Absolute! that I found at locally owned beauty store. The color is simply called Orange. I then added Revlon's glitter topcoat in Galaxy on top. It's a black glitter loaded with lots of silver chunks.
